The Gold of that land is Good!

And the gold of that land is good…(Genesis 2:12)

Those who are in Christ Jesus have not been called to a place of meager portions. While it is true that our flesh is “wasting away” and we have no inheritance in the earth, I want to remind us today that this is not our home!

We have been called to a place that is rich with satisfaction for the soul.

Psalm 16:11
Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

God is on the initiative in salvation. We can trust that He will reveal the “path of life” to us as we embrace His Son.

The incentives that God holds out transcend the natural order and while the first fruits of those incentives are satisfying to the souls now, the fullness of the blessing awaits the day when those who have been transformed into the image of His Son are “with Him” – where all the real pleasures can be enjoyed.

If this were the only incentive being held out then we would not have to suffer being entreated, exhorted and corrected but we have an enemy that is very active in offering things that do not really satisfy the soul at all, they are cheap imitations, designed to distract the souls of men away from the “bounty” that is only found in the person of Christ.

Jesus instructed the church of the Laodiceans with these words.

Revelation 3:18
I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

It is true that we are confronted with choices on every hand, and yet, when Christ makes your heart new, the only thing that can really satisfy the soul is the presence of our God.

I highly recommend that we only buy gold from Jesus! His gold is of the best quality and actually, it is a great value when you consider the Day of Judgment.

Jesus wants us to be “rich” – “clothed” – and be able to “see” - not in this world’s gold, but with the “precious things” that only He is selling. There is a cost associated with following Jesus, and when you are willing to pay the price (taking up your cross and following after Jesus) then we find that what we have left behind was not even worth to be compared with what we are reaching forth to obtain.

When God put us “into Christ” He also puts some things in us - (God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.)

Whatever God has placed in us can be likened to this “gold” that only God’s Son can give. The things that the Holy Spirit are working in us need to find expression both in us, and out of us, it is likened to a “well of water” that is springing up from within and when we share what great things God has given us we will find that it is precious, just like gold.

1 Peter 1:7
That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

Yes, Jesus is selling gold! And I must testify that the gold of that land is VERY good!

Grace and Peace,
Bro. Robert

And by faith we can see it afar,
For the Father waits over the way
To prepare us a dwelling place there.”
